Build a routine in thirty seconds
Tell us who you are caring for and how they feel about brushing. You will get a plain-English five-step routine you can start today — and the honest limits of what home care can do.
Educational guidance only. It does not diagnose or treat; your veterinary surgeon is the only person who can assess your pet's mouth.
Why the mouth matters
Your pet's mouth is keeping a secret. A good routine lets you in on it.
A dog has 42 teeth and a cat has 30, and both keep them behind closed lips where problems are easy to miss. Their saliva is more alkaline than ours, so soft plaque can begin to harden into tartar within about 48 to 72 hours. Once it has hardened, brushing alone will not shift it — which is why a little, done daily, beats a lot done occasionally.
of UK dogs, and 15.2% of UK cats, are diagnosed with periodontal disease in a single year, according to the Royal Veterinary College's VetCompass studies. Small breeds and older pets are most affected.
is roughly how long soft plaque takes to begin mineralising into tartar on a pet's teeth. Daily habits work with that clock; occasional efforts work against it.
make up the Petdentist Daily System: Clean, Support, Maintain, Monitor and Professional Care. Every product and page on this platform fits one of those steps.

When to see your vet
If you notice loose or wobbly teeth, swelling, discharge, bleeding that does not settle, reluctance to eat, dropping food, drooling, pawing at the mouth or any change in behaviour, please contact your veterinary surgeon promptly. Home care supports professional care — it never replaces it.

Nine divisions. One mission. Because every smile matters.
PetdentistCare® is the roof over everything Petdentist® does — products, science, ingredients, technology, clinics, professional education, membership, equine care and protection. Every division links back to the same paw-molar mark, and the same promise.
Science led · Evidence graded
We would rather tell you what we don't know than sell you what we can't prove.
Pet oral-microbiome science is promising and moving fast — and much of it is still early, short-term and strain-specific. So every claim on this platform carries an evidence grade, every article names its author and reviewer, and no result from a human study, or a dog study, is ever borrowed for a cat.
Our Biodontic® science division, our Odovyx® ingredient technology and an independent scientific advisory board exist for one reason: to make Petdentist® the most trustworthy voice in pet oral health, not the loudest.
How we grade evidence
Every scientific statement on this site carries a grade: A product-specific controlled trial · B strain- or species-specific study in dogs or cats · C species mechanistic evidence · D laboratory (in-vitro) evidence · E theoretical rationale. The strength of a claim never exceeds the strength of its evidence. Read our evidence standards.
Our story
It started with a dog called Jippy.
In 1986, Dr Deepak Songra lost the family dog, Jippy, at twelve, to complications linked to chronic, untreated gum disease. He went on to spend more than three decades as a human dental surgeon, where one principle never changed: prevention is kinder, cheaper and better than treatment.
In 2015 he and his family founded Petdentist® to bring that principle to the pets we love — gently, daily, and always alongside the veterinary profession. Merlo, the family Cavapoo, has been the brand's Chief Smile Officer ever since.
A note from our founder
"I am a human dental surgeon, not a veterinary surgeon. My work transfers established human oral biology and preventative care to companion animals through gentle daily home care — alongside, never instead of, your vet." — Dr Deepak Songra BDS
For veterinary professionals, clinics, groomers and retailers
Home care that protects the work you do in the clinic.
More than eight in ten owners struggle to brush their pet's teeth with a rigid brush, so plaque returns long before the next check-up. PetdentistPro® gives your team stress-free home-care options for discharge, CPD-style education, samples and wholesale — and Petdentist CLINICS sends pet parents looking for dental care your way.

Questions people ask
Frequently asked questions
What is PetdentistCare®?
PetdentistCare® is the global platform of Petdentist®, the specialist pet oral health brand founded in 2015 by Dr Deepak Songra BDS. It brings together nine divisions — products, science, ingredients, technology, a clinic directory, professional education, a subscription club, equine care and insurance comparison — so that everything about a pet's mouth can be found in one trusted place.
Is Petdentist® a veterinary service?
No. Petdentist® makes non-medicinal oral-hygiene products and complementary feeds for healthy pets, and publishes evidence-graded education. Our founder is a human dental surgeon, not a veterinary surgeon. Only your vet can examine, diagnose or treat your pet. Our Petdentist CLINICS directory helps you find veterinary dental care near you.
Where can I buy Petdentist® products?
In the UK at petdentist.co.uk (and Amazon UK and eBay), and in the UAE at petdentist.ae, Amazon.ae and Noon. Use the country selector to go to the right store with the right currency, delivery and local information.
Do Petdentist® products treat gum disease or bad breath?
No product on this site diagnoses, treats, cures or prevents any disease. Our products are designed to support normal daily oral hygiene in healthy pets — helping to reduce plaque build-up, helping to keep tartar from building up, freshening breath and supporting healthy gums as part of a routine that always includes veterinary care.
How do I start a daily oral-care routine for my dog or cat?
Use the routine finder on this page. It turns your pet's species, life stage and how they feel about brushing into a simple five-step routine: Clean, Support, Maintain, Monitor and Professional Care. Most pet parents start with a gentle wipe or finger brush, a daily dental powder over food and a tasteless water additive, then build up to brushing.
